What happens next
A successful kitchen remodel starts with understanding why you want to make the change. More storage, better flow, room to gather, updated finishes, or simply fixing a layout that no longer works can lead to very different solutions.
Understand the space and the goal
We start by looking at how your kitchen works today and what you want to change. That includes the layout, adjoining rooms, existing conditions and the practical problems you want the remodel to solve.
Plan before building
Our owner personally measures and estimates each project. From there, we work with you through the design and scope until the project is agreed upon.
Before construction begins, we work through existing conditions, materials, scheduling and the different trades that will be involved. Good planning cannot eliminate every surprise in an existing home, but it can prevent many of them.
Keep the project connected
Kitchen remodeling often involves cabinetry, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, drywall, flooring, tile, painting and other trades. Zischke Builders coordinates those pieces as one project rather than leaving the homeowner to manage them separately.
Pay attention to the finish
The details people see and use every day matter. Cabinet alignment, trim transitions, tile work, flooring, lighting and the way new construction meets the existing home are part of the project, not an afterthought.

Can Zischke change the layout of my kitchen?
Yes. Kitchen projects can involve much more than replacing finishes. Depending on the house and project, we can evaluate changes involving walls, cabinetry, plumbing, electrical systems and adjoining spaces.
Do you install custom cabinetry and built-ins?
Zischke Builders has finish-carpentry capabilities that allow us to incorporate custom cabinetry, built-ins, shelving, trim and other project-specific details when appropriate.
Can you handle flooring, tile and painting as part of the kitchen project?
Yes. Those elements can be coordinated as part of a larger kitchen remodel rather than requiring the homeowner to manage each piece separately.
Do you take on smaller kitchen projects?
We consider both larger remodels and individual home-improvement projects. Project availability depends on the type of work, location and current schedule.
What about appliances?
We can also help you pick out and install appliances.
How early should we contact you?
Earlier is generally better, especially when a project involves several trades, custom materials or significant layout changes. Even if you are still several months away, an initial conversation can help determine what planning needs to happen first.

Zischke Builders is based in Mason and regularly works throughout Greater Lansing, including Holt, Okemos, DeWitt, Williamston, Grand Ledge and surrounding communities. Larger projects may also be considered elsewhere in Mid-Michigan.
